Elegant And Extraordinary: A New Exhibition For Pt. Leo Estate

Up to one hundred of the finest examples of concours and preservation-state cars of all types are set to go on display at Pt. Leo Estate’s Sculpture Park this April, as part of an upcoming showcase of history and horsepower.

The Motorists Concours d’Elegance at Pt. Leo Estate will be a world-first exhibition in presenting the finest historical automobiles alongside a collection of the world’s finest contemporary art.

For co-founder of The Motorists Dave Belford, he is confident the 135 hectares of manicured landscaping will represent a memorable space for the exhibition.

“Having been to some of the best concours around the world I’m sure we can hold a place amongst them in this setting,” he said.

Alongside pre-existing art installments in the panoramic outdoor setting, visitors to the exhibition will be able see a range of impressive vehicles, including those from the brass era of the early 1900’s as well as modern supercars.

According to co-founder of The Motorists Benny Musu, the primal aim of the exhibition is “to showcase the history of the automobile in its context of sporting and artistic merit and to stage it in an environment that is commensurate to the spectacle of the cars themselves.”

First opened to the public in 2017 and owned by the Gandel family, Pt. Leo Estate has quickly become one of the most esteemed cultural and culinary destinations in Australia.

“When The Motorists approached us with the idea of staging a classic car exhibition amongst the sculptures we were instantly intrigued. After all, cars are sculptural too,” Mr John Gandel AC said.

For General Manager at Pt. Leo Estate Roger Lancia, the Concours d’Elegance represents something more than just an event.

“It is an opportunity to showcase how incredibly diverse tourism is on the Mornington Peninsula to an international audience. It is also a great opportunity to extend the Australian Formula 1 carnival by a week and most importantly, into Regional Victoria,” he said.

The Motorists Concours d’Elegance at Pt. Leo Estate is set to run from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd April.

The exhibition will be established in conjunction with presenting partner Watches of Switzerland.
