How, you wonder? We have reviewed 7 of our favourite locations where staying and dining go together, making them the perfect place to stay, eat and repeat!
Hotel Sorrento
The newly renovated summer hot spot Hotel Sorrento has reimagined the summer coastal vacay. Set high up on the hill, strolling distance to the main street of Sorrento, the Hotel is reaffirming its name as an ideal location to flop and drop. The renovations have included a new 30-metre pool, an in-house spa and, of course, dining.
There are many choices when you stay here; we highly recommend sampling them all. If you are limited on time, take advantage of Shihuishi, where you can enjoy a cheeky cocktail or two and indulge on Cantonese cuisine of small bites, small plates, dumplings, and more.
InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula
The grand dame stands high on Constitution Hill in the heart of Sorrento and has undoubtedly made a splash since reopening her doors in 2022. The 108-room InterContinental Sorrento has various room types that epitomise the perfect blend of new and old. Walk out the door, and here you are on main street Sorrento – ideal for those who love to wander and perhaps shop!
Like Hotel Sorrento, The Continental Precinct showcases a variety of dining options, but for most, it is the hatted Audrey's that is tempting and one not to miss. It is named after Scott Pickett's grandmother and has a seafood-inspired menu caught locally, which is perfect for the coastal location.
Port Phillip Estate
Eat, drink and sleep whilst you are staying at Port Phillip Estate. Famed for its wines, Port Phillip Estate has also garnered a reputation for its hospitality in the Dining Room. Head Chef Sam Borley uses locally sourced ingredients that provide a sophisticated dining experience of inspired dishes that can perfectly match the Estate wines.
It is a memorable experience to stay here. There are six luxury suites with vineyard views from the private terraces. The luxury suites are allocated inside the architecturally rammed earth building perfectly positioned on the Estate to overlook the vines. Make time to relax on your terrace while sipping on an Estate vino.
Jackalope Hotel
As magical as it is mythical, Jackalope Hotel has been inspiring guests on how to relax for more than six years. With one of the most Instagrammed infinity pools that overlook the Estate vines, a stay here is perfect for those wanting a destination just to escape the everyday.
Like many of their counterparts, there are a few dining options at the hotel, all worthy of a mention and perfect in their own way. Our fave, though, is Rare Hare. Rare Hare now has two possibilities: Rare Hare Picnics, which will have you outdoors picnicking near Jackalope Lake, or the restaurant will have you dining on shared plates to enjoy an Estate vino or one of their inspired cocktails.
Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill
Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill is reminiscent of an old country house. The gardens are perfectly manicured, and the Hotel has lounges that beckon you with a good book. The rooms are spacious, although we love the balcony suites – perfect in any season.
The Dining Room provides views overlooking the gardens and vines, making for the seamless accompaniment of the traditional local ingredient-inspired menu. Matched with a wine list that includes all Lancemore vinos from across the State and a few sneaky French drops, too.
RACV Cape Schanck Resort
Golf lovers will cheer seeing this resort make the list. With an 18-hole golf course onsite and several dining options, RACV Cape Schanck Resort has received rave reviews from those who stay.
While several more casual restaurants exist on site, Cape Restaurant will have you wanting to return for another visit. The views in this restaurant are of the masters at work – yes, of the open kitchen. Contemporary classic dishes fill the menu on their 3- and 5-course options, matching local wines.
Polperro Winery
Discover the allure of Polperro Winery, where fine wines meet serene landscapes. Immerse yourself in luxury by staying in the villas, creating an unforgettable experience that seamlessly blends the indulgence of exquisite wines with the tranquillity of vineyard living. The vineyard is located in the heart of Red Hill and has one of the largest kitchen gardens, which sets the backdrop for the outdoor dining experience.
