The Keith. A Cool Change.

After the current business closed its doors in early April, and in a tight turn-around, the premises is undergoing a significant facelift.

“We have a fantastic location, moments from the beautiful sandy arc of Rye Beach, but seemingly miles away in its own quieter ‘beach house’ ambience,” said Lisa Moloney, venue manager, The Keith. “The property’s transformation aims to take full advantage of its almost 2,400 square metres, with a communal cabana, BBQ facilities, sun loungers and umbrellas, with four outdoor picnic tables each seating 6-8 guests. The open-air kitchen has a preparation area to augment the tea/coffee, microwave and mini fridge facilities in each guest room.

“The property has been very well-maintained in its former incarnation,” said Moloney. “So, we are taking a sustainable approach indoors to refresh and re-purpose fixtures and fittings wherever possible.”

The Keith will be taking bookings starting from June for a July 2024 opening, offering a host of special winter-break deals. Guests can select from a mix of king, queen, and family accommodations, all with ensuite bathrooms, and the convenience of on-site parking.  Rates will start from $169.00 per night in a Queen room off season and go up to approximately $600.00 per night for two bedroom family accommodation in the high summer season.

“With the vibrant cafes, shops, and restaurants of Rye practically on our doorstep, there are myriad dining choices,” said Moloney. “These include, for example, the popular PU17 Rye, Aqua Blu Café, and Soul Press Rye for coffee and brunch and The Kitchen for lunch and dinner.

“The Keith also welcomes self-caterers, providing full use of the new communal outdoor kitchen.”

In the chilly months ahead, guests will be able to relax in the lounge, where they can play board games or choose a book or magazine from the library.

Hilltonia Homesteads also owns the nearby Alba Thermal Springs and Spa, one of the country’s most sought-after bathing and wellness experiences.

Group General Manager, Craig Dodd said, “While the two properties have very different target markets, what we share is a recognition of the thriving tourist appeal of the Mornington Peninsula.”

Just an easy hour’s drive from the city, The Keith provides a gateway to the region’s beaches, water sports, wineries, farmers’ markets, and scenic attractions.

With guest access from Keith Street, the motel’s official address is 1929 Point Nepean Road Tootgarook 3941. Bookings will be available from 24 June via the website and the usual booking partners.
