National Acclaim For Frankston And Hastings Art

Paint the town gold and bronze! Frankston and Hastings have each shone at the 2022 Australian Street Art Awards.

Starting the success story in Frankston, their City Street Art Tours have brought home gold in the category of Best Street Art Tour. Insightful from the moment of departure, these guided tours lead explorers to the best outdoor art across Frankston. Amazing murals included! This is the second year Frankston has been awarded first place in the same category. And the first city to do so!

In Hastings, it was the ‘Painting Our Future’ mural that was awarded a third placing in the category of Best External Mural. Created by artist Julian Clavijo, the 40-metre mural is a captivating fusion of colour with an important message embedded. That is, to inspire discussion and community action on climate change. Its bold yellow and blue design is striking from all angles. And its location is ideal within the main shopping district of Hastings.

Founded in 2018, the Australian Street Art Awards recognise locations nationwide where visitors can see spectacular street and public art. The Awards is the largest initiative to award achievements in art tourism. It was also the industry’s first of its kind! Outdoor art is an amazing asset to Australia's diverse tourism offering, so it's only fitting for it to be celebrated properly. 11 categories are included in the Awards. This includes recognition of Best Art Laneway and Best Rural Art.
